OR better, since joysticks.xml is in a read only folder then you can delete or rename it, give Authority permission when asked, save the above and call it joysticks.xml ( because this file will work with your joystick if you have still got 3.4.0 in the original folder, otherwise change appropriately the line just above ) EDIT 2 no you can't if you have authority control on! so do this next thing instead. Really you can just copy and paste this into the existing joysticks.xml. Your system and FlightGear will not overwrite it. This will then be used for the first joystick on

The second example shows how to load a driver directly to (You can also add a defaultĮntry to the driver to make it the default choice.)

These drivers have precedence over already existing drivers The joystick hardware (see output of the js_demo application). Such "named"ĭrivers are only picked up if one of their s matches The joysticks.xml file resides (first example). entries with paths relative to the directory where That path needs to be entered into the xml file at Program Files\FlightGear 3.4.0\data\joysticks.xml like this The flightgear executable FGFS.exe knows to point to this file and see what joysticks are defined, and not finding a joystick definition there I believe it loads a default joystick version.įortunately your joystick is defined in Program Files\FlightGear 3.4.0\data\Input\Joysticks\Microsoft\sidewinder-force-feed2.xml In the \Program Files\FlightGear 3.4.0\data\joysticks.xml did you enter the path to your Force Feedback 2? Using what I think is your current path for example ( hopefully you've not gone and installed somewhere else yet ) : I took the opportunity to check my own files and found I had somehow missed one important step, the last time I customized.

It seems like I must have hit a key or checked something somewhere to cause the problems, altho I cannot think of anything. I also have a Thrustmaster Joystick, same problems with it as with the Force Feedback. They say this joystick is not compatible with Win 7, 64Bit, but FGFS detects it okay and when I went to my FG 3.4.0 installation, Data, Input, Joysticks, I see it is listed, altho I do not understand any of the input there or how to check to see if the problem could be solved there.

Hardly any movement at all causes an extreme movement with the A/C. but on the 1900 Beech I can use the custom buttons for flaps and gear, ect., but the throttle and rudder axis are switched around when I first open, but I can change them, but neither my keyboard or joystick will respond to aileron and rudder commands, altho they have worked before. Also, as soon as aircraft starts climbing out, it wants to veer/bank to the left and A/C wanders all over the place. What I cannot understand, (bear with me, I have very basic computer knowledge, very basic), is why all flight controls function with the Cessna 172, and I can customize the buttons for flaps, gear, ect. I have this set up in my laptop and run MS FS 2002, Pacific Fighters, and the MS Combat series, and everything works fine, I cannot run FGFS on my laptop because it is to old and does not meet system reqs. My computer will not accept the CD to set up Sidewinder Central 4.0, this is the installation CD that came with the joystick when I purchased it many years ago. Am really having a difficult time with my Force Feedback 2 joystick.
